Features, Layouts and Capacities

Rooms/locations in 25Live can be sorted or grouped by features present in them (e.g. Blu-ray Player, OS: Mac, or Web Camera with Microphone), their layouts or capacities. Certain room features are most commonly used during Schedule25 class placement algorithm run (e.g. Smart Classroom, Movable Seating, Whiteboard).

Categories

Each room/location is given one or more of the following categories:

  • Auditorium – refers to type of seating in the room (auditorium style seating), usually accommodates more than 40 persons.
  • Booked in 25Live - indicates rooms booked using 25Live. The list of rooms in this category is growing rapidly.
  • Computer Lab - refers to the type of the room use; computer labs can be unrestricted or restricted to use only by certain departments.
  • Conference Room – refers to the type of room use; conference rooms are often restricted and scheduled by specific departments.
  • Emergency Assembly Point – indicates that a location is of significance during an emergency. Building occupants should assemble at the Emergency Assembly Point if the initial Rally Point is unsafe, or if directed to do so by first responders.
  • Laboratory – refers to the type of room use. Laboratories are used primarily for instruction and may contain discipline-specific equipment.
  • Lecture – refers to the type of room use, usually accommodates 21-160 persons.
  • Lobby - refers to the type of room use, some lobbies are used for scheduling events.
  • Lounge – refers to the type of room use; lounges are often restricted and scheduled by specific departments.
  • Museum/Gallery - refers to the type of room use; often restricted and scheduled by specific departments.
  • Non-HSU - spaces in this category are located off-campus and are not owned by HSU, but are frequently used by HSU groups for events.
  • Office Space – refers to the type of room use; generally not to be scheduled.
  • Outdoor Space – outdoor sport facilities, quads and courtyards fall into this category.
  • Research Space - refers to the type of room use; used primarily for research and may contain discipline-specific equipment.
  • Restricted – refers to the stewardship of the location and the fact that it cannot be reserved without its scheduler's approval.
  • Schedule25 – rooms used during Schedule25 class placement algorithm run. These rooms are unrestricted and can be requested by anyone.
  • Seat Only - some rooms are scheduled based on the seats available in them. This category designates that the location is only a seat in a room, not the full room.
  • Service Area  - refers to the type of room use; used primarily to service classrooms or labs and may contain discipline-specific equipment.
Public Location Searches

Several Public Searches have been pre-created to aid all users in finding the right room for their needs.

  • *All Rooms – all campus rooms, regardless of ownership or booking possibility.
  • Conference Rooms – rooms classified as conference rooms; typically reserved by the departments to which they belong.
  • Interdisciplinary Computer Labs – computer labs managed by Classroom Technology and generally available to everyone on campus. They are booked by Room Reservations when classes are in session and by Classroom Technology when classes are not in session.
  • Large Lecture Rooms – unrestricted classrooms with capacity of 70 or more.
  • Restricted Rooms – various campus rooms "owned" by specific departments; reservations must be negotiated with the room's "owner".
  • Rooms w/ (specific feature) – unrestricted classrooms with specific frequently requested features, for example: whiteboard, Blu-ray, document camera, movable seating (encompasses rooms with tablet armchairs AND tables/chairs).
  • Sport Facilities – indoor and outdoor sport facilities, mostly reserved by Kinesiology department.
  • University Center Rooms - a variety of conference rooms, lounges and multipurpose rooms scheduled for non-class events by the University Center Room Reservations.
  • Unrestricted Rooms – 56 smart classrooms scheduled by Room Reservations, open to everyone on campus (these rooms include all Large Lecture Rooms).
